"I use Shot Designer all the time. It's a fantastic tool for planning coverage, and an even better one as a fast means of communication to share the plan with DoP and operators.

I've used a fully-animated sequence to break down the beats of a complex crane shot which had to work first time [it did], and I've often stood my iPad on set for everyone to see how a complex block involving multiple characters could be covered in the most efficient way. If I had to pinpoint a single stand-out quality of Shot Designer, it's the means it gives me to map a number of desired set-ups, then plan multiple camera coverage with both the DoP and the sound recordist - so that the DoP gets each camera framing something well lit, and the sound dept isn't putting its booms in all the wrong places.
